Celebrity Diet Pills
It
is said that $6 billion is spent on diet pills and weight loss products every year, just in the US! So
the drug and pharmaceutical companies are trying every day to come up with the hottest new product to capture a slice
of that market.
Many of the newest pills have celebrity endorsements to help promote them. I've listed a few of their latest offerings here.
Carmen Electra's NV
Carmen Electra is endorsing the NV Rapid Weight Loss Beauty Pill. It claims to make you both slimmer and more beautiful - what more could you want from a diet pill than that!
The pill comprises three separate blends of ingredients - weight loss, beauty and energy. The
weight loss complex consists of
the following ingredients.
- Green Tea extract.. Increases energy expenditure and burns calories
- Hoodia Gordonii.. A natural anti-suppressant
- Theobromine.. Has a thermogenic, calorie-burning effect
The beauty complex contains more ingredients:
- Collagen.. Responsible for skin elasticity
- Alpha-Lipoic Acid.. A natural anti-oxidant that gives skin cells extra protection
- Silica.. Improves the condition of hair and nails
- Biotin.. A B-complex vitamin for improving nail thickness and strength
- Coenzyme Q10.. Improves skin health and appearance
Last of the three is the energy complex - NV's manufacturers claim that it gives you the vivacity and dynamism to enjoy life.
The ingredients are as follows.
- Taurine.. Energy enhancing and anti-fatigue properties
- Ginseng.. Clinical studies have shown that it increases energy
- Rhodiola Rosea.. Increases Mental Alertness
Trimspa with Anna Nicole Smith
Trimspa used to contain Ephedra, a supplement now banned in the US. But they remodelled their formula, added a celebrity endorsement from Anna Nicole Smith and relaunched their product. However, her recent death has created doubt about whether the Trimspa brand will survive.
Anna Nicole first tried Trimspa in 2003 and reportedly lost 69lbs in 6 months. She admitted to doing regular colon cleanses (see our Cleansing & Detox site for more info) and changing her diet. But she claims that Trimspa was responsible for most of the weight loss.
Trimspa contains two major ingredients:
- Hoodia Gordonii.. a plant native to South America that is currently the most sought after weight loss supplement on the market
- Glucomannan.. a water soluble dietary fiber that expands in the stomach to reduce appetite
Trimspa does have some reported side effects - occasionally users have complained of anxiety, insomnia and migraines. Other users have found it more effective to buy Hoodia and Glucomannan separately, rather than in the Trimspa package. Trimspa is also expensive and this makes it tough for everyone to afford - make sure to set aside at least $50 a month.
