The simple fact of the matter is that when you hit 30, your metabolism goes down, your fat burning goes down, maybe you exercise less, maybe you just have a harder time losing weight. When you hit 40, you are over the hill and it gets substantially worse. But if you have ever heard of people being in shape at 40, sometimes they say that they are in the best shape of their lives. It happens, it’s understandable, and it works out in general terms.
If you know what you are doing, you can also not only be in shape at 40, but be in the best shape of your life at 40. This being said, there are various ways to go about this. First of all, while you hopefully were following a good diet plan when younger, kick it up. Now’s an even more important time to eat more small meals throughout the day to keep your metabolism going at all time. It’s more important to eat fewer calories and control it than ever before. Your metabolism is slower, you need fewer calories.
The second big thing is to as common sense would dictate exercise. Exercise keeps you from losing bone density, from losing muscle mass, from gaining fat in general. If you are able to actually end up using exercise in the right way whether it’s running an extra mile per day or just taking a weight lifting hiatus from things, if being in shape at 40 is your goal, then you actually have to end up exercising more than you ever have before. It’s taking the extra steps that really helps.
